I hope you enjoy the new format of client blogs I am launching with the personal brand shoot with Catie from Wellness for Weight loss. I aim to create content that serves my community and I believe getting to know my clients could potentially change the way you run your business or even live your life, so I am ecstatic to introduce you to the amazing people I get to meet and photograph.
Kicking off the new format is the amazing Catie from Wellness for Weight-loss.
Catie Gandhi is an online weight loss coach, based in Aberdeenshire and working with overwhelmed women, looking to regain their spark. I enjoyed getting to know Catie and working with her on planning her personal branding photoshoot, which we decided to hold in Banchory's Ride cafe and Crathes Castle's beautiful grounds. The rain tried making things tricky for us for the outdoor portion of the shoot, but Catie's lovely smile truly lit up the images.
Catie wanted to level up her presence in the digital realm, especially as she deals with her clients online, so she selected The You branding package option, which delivered a Gallery of 60+ images, from which she chose 30 to sprinkle all over her website (love the way the finished version looks - check it out right here) and social media.
I asked Catie 5 questions to introduce her business a little beyond sharing a few images from her personal branding photoshoot and here are the answers (be sure to read to the end to find out where you can connect with Catie and she even shares a couple of amazing freebies!)
Enjoy!
Tell me a little about yourself and what you do?
I’m a wife, a mum, a doctor, and a health & wellness coach. Over the years I have struggled with my weight and tried pretty every diet there is – none of which ever worked for me in the long term, and I always gained back the weight that I had lost (and more). I was so busy looking after everyone else, that I never had time for myself – I really lost track of “me”, and I would always put myself last on my list of priorities. I felt embarrassed that, as a doctor, I couldn’t seem to master having a healthy body. A friend recommended coaching to me, so I signed up as a client and gave it a try. It totally changed my approach to weight loss and wellbeing, and helped me to find balance in my life again. I lost 3 stone and have kept it off for 2 years and counting – whilst working as a doctor during the height of the pandemic, I think that’s pretty amazing!! After experiencing the difference that coaching can make, I decided to train as a Coach myself, and now I love to help other women who are struggling just like I was.
In my spare time I love spending time with my family, especially in the great outdoors. We live in rural Aberdeenshire, and we’re lucky to have such beautiful scenery right on our doorstep. Our family are big foodies, and so finding a way to lose weight that still allowed us to enjoy delicious food was really important to me. We love to cook together and enjoy trying new recipes. In recent years I have also taken up some hobbies again, and I particularly love anything creative – I make and sell jewellery, and I knit and crochet to help me relax.
Who is your typical client?
I help busy working women to stop using food to deal with exhaustion and stress, and to move from a place of overwhelm, fatigue, bloating, weight gain, and low self-esteem to achieve permanent weight loss, feel full of energy and enjoy family life to the full.
What is the single most common block you notice in people en route to success?
The traditional diet mentality of restriction, reliance on willpower, and generally beating ourselves up if we go “off track” are the most common blocks to success that I see. In my coaching programmes we focus a lot on changing your mindset and getting free from the diet mentality, and I teach you to treat yourself with the same kindness that you offer to others.
I notice you often share quick, easy to action tips to start looking after oneself, can you please share your top three tips to start the journey of wellness?
Keep it simple! When people think of self-care, they often say that they don’t have time and have this idea that it needs to be something really involved or time-consuming. Instead, think of some tiny upgrades that you can make without expending much time or effort. That could be tiny changes to your food, to your sleep routine, to your beauty routine…. whatever your like but keep it easy and achievable. If it seems to small, it’s probably perfect
Get clear on your reasons why you want to make a change. Maybe it’s so that you can have more energy to play with your kids. Maybe it’s so that you can be healthy as you get older. Maybe it’s so you can feel comfortable in your own skin. Spend some time asking yourself why you want to make a change, and don’t stop at the first answer. Ask yourself why again and again – why do you want to have more energy to play with your kids? Why do you want to be healthy as you age? Once you have some clarity, keep reminding yourself of your reasons every day.
When it comes to weight loss, learning to tune in to your body’s hunger signals is key to permanent weight loss. Even if you do nothing else, you will get good results from waiting for physical hunger and stopping at enough. Begin by pausing and checking in with your body – are you physically hungry? Thirsty? Bored? Restless? Sad? If hunger isn’t the problem, food won’t help in the long run. What can you do to best support what your body needs at the time?
