Recently you may’ve noticed me go on once or twice (or a million times!) about how NICE the weather has been in Scotland.
We don’t get spoiled by the sun up here, but you just live with it and make the most of the holidays abroad and the rare sunny days.
But Spring/Summer 2018, you have been EPIC so far!
If not for the fact that the garden is starting to look rather parched, I’d give you 10/10 for summer vibes.
I have had the pleasure of photographing Laura, Lee and their family on a number of occasions over the past few years, meeting for the first session on their son’s First Birthday (cake smash – yum!), then capturing their daughter’s newborn softness and celebrating her First Birthday with another cake a year later!
So seeing these guys for another family outing was extra special, it is so joyous seeing the stages at which the little rolly legs start wobbling, walking, running…
Riley is a character and such a smiler and Ellie’s hair is OUT.OF.THIS.WORLD!
You might be wondering why I opened with an Ode to Summer Weather.
Well, the reason was, because even though we met on a beach in North East Scotland in May at 10AM, the sun appeared high up in the sky and at full blast.
I should’ve done a Guess Where? game before revealing the time/date and location, because you would be forgiven to have thought we were on location in some Southern exotic shores.
instesd, we were in the dunes of Saint Cyrus Nature Reserve, Near Montrose, Angus!
Hats off to these guys for having a blast, exploring and making the most of the illusive Scottish sun – catching frogs on photographer’s head and collecting pebbles (mostly) from the little stream going into the sea. All the while smiling and being their lovely selves along the way
Photographing families is so special to me – it is the bond unlike anything else. It is effortless and authentic.
